We arrived in Greve, found the parking lot and a space, walked over the River Greve,
then found the triangular square where all the action was! This greeted us:
A black rooster symbol on a bottle of wine signifies that it is a classic Chianti product. Thus, black roosters abound!
Most of the booths consisted of van-like vehicles a bit smaller than a Schwann's truck with a built in canopy that folds up into a box on the roof.
At this point my phone froze so no more photo of the market... Sarah stood in line at vegetable stand - her # was 3 and they were on 92! It was quite entertaining watching the shoppers and the vendors so the 20-30 minute wait didn't seem so long! Here is the bounty that only cost €4.50:
This is after returning home & we had eaten half of the tomatoes for dinner! And after I had Googled to see how to unfreeze my phone! Maybe I'll remember for future times - it was a AHA moment!!
After a look in the church, a walk around the square window shopping in regular stores, walk by their innovative library
and a post office visit, we headed to Montefiore. Our first attempt ended with us driving on a downhill street so narrow, we had to figure out how to pull in the side mirrors!! Locals at bottom were guiding Sarah while I had my eyes closed!! The next attempt was successful - we conquered the citadel!
We then walked back down to our car which just happened to be by the restaurant, La Castellans, where we had a delicious lunch! Stone walls, 8 tables of 4 maximum, great ambiance...
Now the weather is gorgeous so we head out to another tiny village on back lanes -
Now on our main road of S222, we head home! Whereas I 'fix' my phone and take advantage of the beautiful fall day to get photos of our home & surroundings. Energetic Sarah went for a long walk and had a nice visit with Bryan, the host. I enjoyed sitting on the patio under ripe grapes! We ate our cold meal of cheese, meat, olives, tomatoes, bread, crackers and grapes there too as it was so pleasant. Such a contrast from yesterday!!
It was a terrific day!!
