All the buses were unloaded and we walked in mass up to the tiny square where the mayor (assuming as he looked official) welcomed everyone, etc.
Then all the train people moved down a hilly street to a large tent for lunch.
At this point, we discovered we hadn't bought the lunch option - in fact, we didn't know there was one!! In the end, we were pleased we hadn't as we quite enjoyed all the samples of delicious olive oil with bread, both crispy and soft options.
Then we, well, Sarah & Phoebe found a booth with pork and salami sandwiches while I held our spots on a bench in front of the church! Fortunately, also in the sun as I forgot to grab my jacket out of the car in the rush of catching the train. It was a bit chilly in the shade and breeze. This bench was also conveniently located right by the pastry/sweets booth!! We went into the church to hear a violin/piano concert which was excellent!
Then we found the folk dancers who also sang!
Then we went on the hunt for an olive booth after seeing a woman with a bagful - we found it!
Now it was time to head back to the bus pickup point. Here are scenes I liked:
Now back on the buses to head to Ascino to board the steam engine train once again to go back to Siena. What a change of scenery - this area is Crete Sensei which is roughly translated to "badlands":
Once back in Siena about 6:30 pm, we headed home after a few false starts in finding the right road! Sarah was a trooper & got us safely back to our comfy nest where we had leftovers for dinner and then early to bed for all of us.

So great. I love all the photos. Sarah With Olives.
