Yesterday, the 10th, was a lazy, settle-in day here in Tuscany. Sarah faithfully did her morning walk while I slept in. The day became even more lazy as when we went to drive to get groceries, the car wouldn't start! So mission aborted until Bryan, the host, came home to help with a jump start. We did accomplish plotting out several days' excursions which was a big accomplishment!!
Fortunately, the host & his wife had stocked the kitchen a bit for our Sunday arrival plus grapes right outside our door so we were far from going hungry! Later in the evening, after Bryan had checked in agreeing to help us today, I had the idea to Google "BMW 118D". Aha! A YouTube video on the subject appeared! The young man mentioned stepping on the brake - so the question to Sarah was, "did you have your foot on the brake?" Another Aha! So out to the car in the dark & lo, the car starts right up!!! So a visit to Bryan's door (fortunately right behind us)

Bryan's walkway

to say all is well - just novice driver in newer model car!! Today started with me sleeping in again while Sarah met with Bryan and service technician to deal with dishwasher issue. Easily solved supposedly - we will know when and/if we use it! Then off to the town of Impruneta to sightsee! A cloudy and drizzling day, so the town appeared a bit drab. The chocolate pastry was delicious!
The Basilica di Santa Maria was basic, but the image of the Madonna dell'Impruneta supposedly done by St Luke was worth seeing though reflection was distracting.

We walked around the town a bit; found the M. I.T. A.L terracotta store - Impruneta is known for terracotta:
Then we found the chunk of elemental copper under protection in a corner of the square. Impruneta was once a mining town.
By now it was 'siesta' time, so after two attempts & finding closed establishments, we were directed to La Sosta  di Gazzilloro Ristorante where we had a delicious lunch!

Baked goat ricotta

Tagliatella w/pistachio sauce

Gnocchi w/leeks & Vin Santo
Now we were on the search for the Coop grocery store - after many trips up & down tiny, narrow streets & many questions asked to passing pedestrians, we found it!!  Trying to find skim milk written in Italian was our next challenge - we decided that in the future the shopping list should always be translated before leaving the house!
In the lane to house

Safely home to a quiet time of naps, Sarah walking, planning tomorrow & a simple evening meal, we are cozy & content!
Sarah decided that Italian olives are tasty!
